PULAU LANGKAWI: A MALAYSIAN TRAVEL BUBBLE CONCEPT

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 20): Pulau Langkawi in Kedah, the pilot project for Malaysia’s travel concept, has shown to be a success since it was opened on September 16, 2021. The destination recorded a total of 9,500 tourist arrivals, according to Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. Datuk Shukri informed that there have been no Covid-19 cases recorded so far among the tourists.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) had previously targeted about 200,000 domestic tourists to visit Langkawi from September 16, 2021, to December 31, 2021, after the resort island’s tourism industry was reopened under the travel bubble pilot project. The island also has targeted about 30,000 travelers to visit the island in the month of September.
