Air Ambulance During a Pandemic – A Laos Case File
With the borders of neighboring countries closing due to Covid-19, it is becoming difficult for a Laos resident to get treated abroad. When one of our clients asked us for solutions for late-stage cancer, we started to look for options within our regional Aware24 Alliance. However, the final decisions were with the respective Ministries of Health and their appreciation of the patient’s condition. Therefore, we also started to look at different options.
After a long process of paperwork and many entry denials, France became a viable option. Laos Assistance processed the landing permits alongside visas for the medical and flight crew to land and spend the night in Laos. The patient was safely escorted by the 1623 Emergency Medical Team on the 16th of May to Paris for emergency surgery. #PresenceMatters
