July 14, 2021
Nepal expects to receive 1.5 million doses of the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccines by 16.July.2021 under the COVAX initiative. Authorities are likely to provide these shots to migrant workers in order to facilitate their departure to their work destination. Nepal’s economy is highly dependent on remittance sent home by migrant workers, and J&J vaccines are one of the approved shots that would facilitate their visas and travel to the destination country.
In addition, Nepal is set to receive 4 million dosages of the Vero Cell vaccine manufactured by Sinopharm in March. Authorities are likely to administer the Vero Cell shots on the basis of age group.
