2 Nights, 3 Days to Replace the 14 Days Quarantine for Tourists in Thailand
Thailand is planning to be the first country in Asia to allow vaccinated tourists to skip the mandatory 14 days quarantine. Thai authorities are interested in immunity passports (or) vaccine passports as part of travel documents which will be potentially used to screen tourists who are eligible for the two-night quarantine protocol. Organizations like IATA have already begun to develop such travel pass (or) digital health pass containing key testing and vaccination-related information.
The possible timeline for the implementation of this policy is expected in the 3rd quarter of 2021, in an attempt to boost the tourism industries that fell over 80% during the pandemic in 2020.
